The most common characteristics of a successful entrepreneur
If you’ve ever observed successful entrepreneurs, you will probably have discovered that they often have some characterises in common. That’s to say, no matter the field they are successful in, their background or net worth, they usually share some of the same qualities.
Successful entrepreneurship often requires patience, the ability to embrace the unknown and stay focused on your idea, product of service. Here are a few other traits and habits that entrepreneurs tend to share that you can start developing today in order to achieve your goals:
1. Passion
In the words of Jeff Bezos “One of the huge mistakes people make is that they try to force an interest on themselves. You don’t choose your passions; your passions choose you.” When it comes to many successful entrepreneurs, they were able to discover their true passions and pursue them, leading to their success.
2. Strong work ethic
It goes without saying that entrepreneurship involves hard work. Success goes far beyond just wishing things to happen but stopping at nothing until they do. This Michael Jordan quote renders it best; “Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen.”
3. Creativity
Creativity is key to successful entrepreneurship. Linda Naiman puts it best here; “Creativity gives you a competitive advantage by adding value to your service or product, and differentiating your business from the competition.” The good about creativity is that it is a skill we can all harness and develop over time in order to achieve our goals.
4. Resilience
Contrary to popular belief, most success stories don’t happen over night. They require patience, resilience and tenacity particularly during the difficult times. In the words of Robert H. Schuller; “Tough times never last, but tough people do.
5. Commitment to learning
A commitment to learning and personal development is a key characteristic of many entrepreneurs. Richard Branson depicts it perfectly here; ”My biggest motivation? Just to keep challenging myself. I see life almost like one long University education that I never had — everyday I’m learning something new.” The idea is to keep investing in yourself with resources that help you to become the best and most successful version of yourself.
