A Guide to the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS)

The Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS) is a scheme operated by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) to help small, early stage companies raise equity finance by offering tax relief to investors who purchase shares in them.

Complementing the Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS), the aim of SEIS is to encourage investment in small companies that are less than two years old.

In 2016/17, 2,260 companies received investment through the scheme. The average investment in each company was around £78,000.
